The Popularity Of Mobiles Vis--Vis Ipods

The latest mobile phones come with sophisticated mobile music options that can be used for listening to music, even when a person is on the move! Many of the latest handsets come equipped with mp3 players with impressive sound output. As a matter of fact, phone users are more interested in acquiring the handsets which have capabilities to play music files in different formats.

These trends may motivate some of us to believe that mobile phones would become one of the most popular mediums of listening to music in the near future. So far so good! But what about the tenet that the new models of mobile phones would become more popular than i-pods? According to Bill Gates, the chairman of Microsoft, the popularity attained by i-pod is not sustainable in the long run. He is of the opinion that users would prefer mobiles to i-pods, when it came to listening to digital audio.

This view is open to debate. But what can be stated with some certainty is the increasing competition in this sector, with each passing day. Leading mobile handset manufacturers are integrating mp3 players in the different models of their handsets. And these new mobile phones are giving a tough competition to ipods and are coming into their own in the world market for mp3 music players.

Another trend that has contributed to this increase in the popularity of the latest mobile phones that come equipped with mp3 players and a range of mobile music options is the availability of mobile phones at competitive prices. The latest models of mobiles are in fact available as contract mobile phones; phone users get to enjoy all the latest features and functions of the handsets and that too at industry leading prices. The line rentals of the contract deals are generally affordable and the tariff options suit the needs and requirements of different categories of phone users.

Mobile phone users in the UK, as well as other parts of the globe, are purchasing contract mobile phones and cheap mobile phones and enjoying the advanced features that these handsets have to offer! To conclude, we can state that mobiles are increasingly being used for listening to music and some of the latest mobile phones are giving a tough competition to ipods. However, whether mobile phones would dislodge ipods totally remains to be seen.
